Julianne's Owl

I spotted Julianne on the 36th Street train platform in Brooklyn last month and struck up a conversation about her ink. She has eleven tattoos and offered up one of her more recent ones, this owl on her shin:

This was inked by Justin Stephan at A Stroke of Genius Tattoos in Boca Raton, Florida. I like the shop's website because not only was I able to find the tattoo in the artist's gallery, but Justin also commented on the piece a little, saying this was "a cool owl tattoo I did on a walk-in, she was a champ, sat like a rock, the tattoo is in the middle of her shin...".

Julianne likes owls and this is one of her favorite tattoos.

Thanks to Julianne for sharing her owl tattoo with us here on Tattoosday!

This is a traced (badly done) rip off of a custom tattoo I did on a friend a few years ago. Sad to see the lack of respect by both the client and the tattooist.

I wouldn't be breaking any news by stating that copying other artists' custom work is an unusual thing. However, not having seen Erin's original work, I can't say whether I agree or disagree with the claim that this was copied, having not seen the original. I appreciate Erin taking the time to comment on the tattoo. If she wants to send me a photo of her original work, I will append it to this post and let the readers judge. **BCo

Erin has since updated me on her work.

"You can see it on my tumblr account erinchancetattoo.tumblr.com, they have just added the skull and roses in place of the bones, leaf and moon that was originally there."
