Luciano's Grandfather

At the beginning of last month, a spotted a guy across from the New York Stock Exchange. He had this really cool portrait on his right arm:

This tattoo belongs to Luciano, who was in a hurry after I took the photo. He gave me the most basic information - primarily that this is a portrait of his grandfather, from when he was in the navy.

He initially credited an artist in Florida with this piece, but the artist has since contacted us and said the work is not his.

Two Tattoos From Jason

I met Jason in Penn Station last month and he shared two tattoos with me. First, this tiger on his forearm:

He credited this to an artist named Mike at Immortal Ink in Flemington, New Jersey.

Jason also shared this cover-up on his upper right arm:

The woman in the tattoo represents his wife, and Jason had spent time in the Navy. He likes the art for art's sake and told me, "I'm not much of a meaning guy."  This was done by Adam Hays at Red Rocket Tattoo in New York City. We've featured work by Adam previously on Tattoosday here and here.

Joe's Back Piece Honors His Grandfathers

On this Memorial Day, we're appreciating this back piece on Joe, who I met at the NYC Tattoo Convention back in March.

When he shared this with me back at Roseland, I knew I'd be saving it for Memorial Day, especially after Joe explained, ""One of my grandparents was in the Air Force, the other one was in the Navy, so I did the World War II scene with airplanes ... and navy boats - I have battleship and I have an aircraft carrier."

This impressive piece took a little over forty hours and was inked by Kenny Restrepo at Leathernecks Tattoo in Brooklyn.
