Natalie's Midwest Tiger

Back in September, I met Natalie, a Vegan baker, in lower Manhattan. She has over twenty sixty tattoos, and we decided to look at her hands. Check out this cool piece on her left hand:

Natalie credited Silje Røe Hagland from Scapegoat Tattoo in Portland, Oregon. Hagland has since moved to Invictus Tattoo in Norway.

Natalie also has these knuckle tattoos, in homage to her Midwest roots:

Abby Remembers Fressa Pants

Looking back over the summer, I had one remaining post from the day of the Coney Island Mermaid Parade.

I was sitting on the N train, waiting to head back from the beach, when I noticed the woman sitting next to me had this tattoo on her arm:

Of course, I had to introduce myself and ask what this tattoo was about.

The tattoo graces the arm of Abby Bean, a vegan blogger, whose site A (soy) Bean, chronicle some of her culinary adventures.

She explained that FP are the initials of her late dog, Fressa, a Maltese-Shih-Tzu-Toy Poodle mix, who she affectionately called Fressa Pants.

Abby got this tattoo at a vegan tattoo shop called Scapegoat Tattoo in Portland, Oregon.

Darcy Shares Some Words of Wisdom

This fall, I found myself in a new neighborhood during the days, down on Broad Street. One of the new people in my life, Darcy, is an employee of a local coffee and pastry shop. I noticed she had some ink on her inner wrists, and one day, after her shift, she let me take this photo:

Her wrists state "90% Work - 10% Talent."

Darcy explains:

"I had a teacher ... his recipe for success was that, if you work at anything, you can become good. It's your talent that will make you great. You can't rely on your talent alone - talent's only 10% of that equation."

She got this at a vegan tattoo shop in Portland, Oregon called Scapegoat Tattoo.
