Josh's Astonishing Back Piece from the NY Empire State Tattoo Expo in 2018

The 2019 Empire State Tattoo Expo (@nyempirestatetattooexpo) continues today and runs through Sunday at the Midtown Hilton here in New York City!

The Hilton has A/C and it will be a great way to beat the heat, all while seeing amazing tattoo practitioners from around the world!

One of my favorites from last year was this amazing tiger back piece on Josh:

This was done by the talented Jon Davis (@jondavistattoo) out of Vessel Tattoo (@vesseltattoo) in Syracuse, New York.

The Expo starts today at Noon and runs through Sunday at 7pm, all at the Midtown Hilton (1335 Avenue of the Americas).

Aaron's Family in a Zodiac Sleeve

I met one of my neighbors, Aaron, over the weekend and he shared his incredible sleeve, which is devoted to the animals of the Chinese zodiac, as they relate to his family. Check it out:

His wife, Rebecca, was born in the year of the rooster, Aaron was born in the year of the dragon, his older son is born in the year of the tiger, and his youngest was born in the year of the goat:

Allie's Tiger is Rip-Roaringly Lifelike!

Another quick update from this past weekend's New York Empire State Tattoo Expo.

On Friday, I met Allie, who had just finished receiving this stunning tiger tattoo:

This bengal tiger, ripping out of Allie's thigh, was completed by artist Amber Joy (@AmberJoyTattoo) from 546 Tattoo Studio in Sandusky, Ohio.

Not much else to say, except wow! Beautiful work from a talented tattooist!

Natalie's Midwest Tiger

Back in September, I met Natalie, a Vegan baker, in lower Manhattan. She has over twenty sixty tattoos, and we decided to look at her hands. Check out this cool piece on her left hand:

Natalie credited Silje Røe Hagland from Scapegoat Tattoo in Portland, Oregon. Hagland has since moved to Invictus Tattoo in Norway.

Natalie also has these knuckle tattoos, in homage to her Midwest roots:
